The algae in the eye masks also allows it to fully decompose when dropped in water allow you to benefit your skin and the planet.
7. Midnight Superbloom Crush
If you know someone who loves colourful baths, our Midnight Superbloom is an amazing option. Most bath bombs you find contain synthetic dyes and fragrances which can be harmful to the skin. They can also stain your tub which is not cute at all. Our Midnight Superbloom uses butterfly pea flower to make your bath water a vibrant blue colour. It also features neroli, lavender, rose, and jasmine essential oils to help you relax and reset. Finally, the ingredients also help to improve your skin health, allowing your skin to feel refreshed.
8. Bathologist Shower Steamers
Is your self-care lover more into showers? Bathologist has amazing shower steamers to help take their self-care showers to the next level. They are also 100% compostable, so you won't have to worry about harming the environment after using one!
Happy Gifting!
1. Ancient Oat Hydration Crush
The best way to combat dry skin is to hydrate it. For that, we recommend our Ancient Oat Hydration Crush. This crush uses colloidal oat which helps to soothe, moisturize, and provide relief for irritation. These oats are combined with hydrating rice milk which will help with long term hydration even after your soak is over. Aside from the moisture benefits, Ancient Oat includes hints of sandalwood, vanilla, and citrus, and helps to also elevate your relaxation and improve sleep. Not to mention, it’s also great for those with sensitive skin, making it the perfect fall essential for everyone!
2. Cozy Candles
A great way to add some coziness to your bath routine is by using candles. By lighting a candle, you can surround your bathing experience with the perfect cozy fall scent. Some of our recommendations would woodsy scents such as sandalwood or fireplaces, strong coffee, or apple scents, or of course the classic pumpkin pie for the perfect autumnal staple. Lighting candles can also help to set the mood. Light the candle and turn off the lights in your bathroom and bathe in the warm glow! If we could only recommend one candle for you to use, we’d recommend any candles from LOHN!
3. MILK Mineral Bath Soak
If you’re looking for another hydrating essential that’s specifically formulated for those with sensitive skin, consider the MILK Mineral Bath Soak. This soak features coconut milk, Coconut Co2, and oat milk, allowing for a gentle yet relaxing soak. Along with oat and coconut, this product also features dead sea salt which includes minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium which can help with skin conditions and improve circulation. The best part of this soak is that it smells like just based coconut macaroons!
4. A Warm Drink
You can’t have a fall bath without a cozy drink, and there’s so many options to choose from! First option would have to be a warm tea. In terms of the perfect blend, we’d recommend anything with pumpkin, cinnamon, or apple to really capture those fall vibes. Another great option would be a warm apple cider! Apple cider is also a great antioxidant meaning that drinking one during your bath can help you refresh your body inside and out! Finally, it’s never too early to start drinking hot chocolate! Consider making one with some marshmallows or whip cream to really get yourself in the spirit this fall.
5. BePure Bubble Elixir
If you are more of a bubble bath type of person, the BePure Bubble Elixir is the perfect addition to your bathing routine! This bubble bath features dewy cucumber water to help hydrate and detoxify the skin, as well as coconut to hydrate, reduce inflammation, and keep your skin looking radiant on those cold winter days. How does our bubble bath stand out? Our bubble baths are formulated without the harsh surfactants and detergents. Our bubbles are also super frothy and long lasting, allowing for your bubble bath to feel like a day at the spa!
6. Body Butter
After getting out of the bath, it’s important to moisturize your body to protect your skin from the cold elements. As the weather gets dry, we like to whip out a body butter during the colder months! Body butters are much thicker than your typical lotion which allows your skin to stay moisturized for longer periods of time. It’s also made with more natural materials such as cocoa, avocado, or jojoba to really help penetrate the skin. So, if you typically use a fast-absorbing body lotion, consider swapping to a body butter for the cooler months to keep your skin glowing.
]]>As much as we all hoped 2023 would bring a time where Covid is behind us, we're very much still dealing with a global pandemic.
The burnout is real and we're FEELING IT!
We're living in a world where everyone is screaming at us to do more self-care and put ourselves first, it can be hard to not feel the pressure. But as many of us are working from home still, that grey area of what are “work hours” and what are “home hours” are still blurred making it even harder to sneak that time in.
So we reached out to the Bathorium team to find out what little bits of self care are bringing joy and keeping them sane this month.
Keep reading to see our team's tried-and-true self care picks!
Being CEO is definitely not an easy job, so for Greg, getting to take time for himself, and unplugging is so important. Greg’s go-to self-care product is the Aesop oil burner. A handcrafted solid brass vessel made in Australia that allows you to diffuse essential oils in a much stronger way. Greg says: “I like to burn clary sage, rosemary and mandarin [...] It is far more potent than a diffuser that uses water and it looks beautiful...literally brings me joy just looking at it!”
Packaging orders is a lot of standing on your feet and managing a team of people is not an easy job. When it comes to relaxation and self-care Eczema Honey's Skin Soothing Cream is Matieu’s go-to product, especially in the winter when it’s really dry. “This helps me with my dry skin. I put this honey cream on that I keep in the freezer. The cooling effect this has on my sensitive skin gives me such relief before bedtime. Can’t live without it” says Mathieu.
As a mom working from home during lockdown with kids running around the house, Stephanie loves to take time for herself and discover products she can use during the workday. Stephanie says: “I’ve recently discovered the Saje Wellness Extra Strength Pain Relieving Remedy and to say I’m obsessed is an understatement! In Ontario we are in yet another lockdown - plus a round of virtual homeschool to contend with. A few swipes of this roller over my tension points immediately relaxes muscles and helps keeps those pesky headaches at bay.”
Diving right on into a new job position, Kesha loves to focus on the little things that make her day a little easier. As a lover of coffee, her go-to self-care product is the Joco 16oz re-useable coffee mug. “This mug gets me through those long, early and freezing cold mornings all while keeping me caffeinated and keeping the coffee hot”.
Working as our private label and retail sales manager, Annette loves to go home and throw on a mask. Her favourite mask is the Peter Thomas Roth, water drench hyaluronic cloud mask. She says it’s it soothes skin, while providing a lot of moisture to the skin all while not feeling icky. “It rescues my skin during these dry winter months”.
Our new key account manager Taya has developed a love for a self-care product she can keep in her workspace. “I'm absolutely loving my Himalayan salt lamp that I keep on my desk. It is said to increase negative ions and balance the electro magnetic field created by electronics. I just love the calming soft light it produces. I feel immediately at peace”. Along with using her Himalayan salt lamp, Taya also loves snacking on these Energy Bits. “I love Energy bits spirulina and chlorella tablets. Algae is one of the most complete sources of nutrients. They are convenient to take anywhere because they are condensed into a tiny tablet. I use spirulina in the morning for energy and chlorella in the evening for recovery.”
Spending all day working at a desk isn’t easy for anyone. For Nathalie, self-care and relaxation time is the perfect time for her to unwind and call it a day. Nathalie loves to use an essential oil diffuser on with a recipe she found online. The recipe mixes: grapefruit, lemon, peppermint, rosemary and orange oils. She says it “sends me back to the beach, my happy place!” Nathalie also makes time during her busy work week to go for a walk and listen to a podcast. Some of her favourite’s are: No Stupid Questions, Pushkin Cautionary Tales and The Science of Happiness.
Hope you've found some inspiration to make your days a little bit brighter! Remember to take taking a few moments for yourself every day. You deserve it - honey you’re killing it!

Parents replaced the products in their regular bath routine with Little Charlie Soak + Bubble Milk over 3 weeks to see how it impacts their child's eczema and dry skin concerns.
My son suffers from eczema. He gets flare ups that are hard to control with prescription creams. I started using Little Charlie & instantly saw a reduction in the redness of his eczema. After a few baths his flares were better under control than with his prescription creams! I am amazed! His cheeks usually always stay red from his eczema & after using Little Charlie it subsides dramatically! -Ashley L.
My daughter has an eczema patch on her foot that gets worse in the winter and this time of the year was a perfect time to test this product. I can honestly say that this product works! It helped so much to calm that irritated skin and the eczema patch is almost gone. It makes it so easy to not need anything but the water to wash her and she smells so good afterwards. -Olga P

]]>So when Greg shared about his newest addition to his self-care routine - 'Blackout Bathing' - and how good it is for refreshing your mind and giving your senses a much needed break, I filled it into my internal catalogue of things to try one day.
He explained that bathing in a fully dark room (yes, fully dark with no candles) can calm your senses and help you restore the balance. See, as you float away in darkness it gives your body a full break from the overstimulation and when you pair that with the comfortable, relaxing warm water and your favourite beneficial bath soak it can truly be transformative. It's like your own personal float-tank type soak from the comfort of your home!
On one random doozie of a Tuesday when I was feeling particularly overwhelmed the idea of a Blackout Bath popped back into my head. After a long day of work and parenting - mid-winter and mid-pandemic mind you - I had just had enough. Touched out, my mind spacey, and just generally feeling depleted and empty I decided it was time to test out this new trend for myself.
I cleared my evening calendar, explained to my husband that I was going to be taking a special bath and to keep the kids away at all costs, and set out to start picking exactly what would be in this special tub!
After some deliberation I decided on Hinoki Magnesium Bath Flake because I love magnesium, and wanted to ease sore muscles. My skin needed a refresh too so I also added in 1/4 cup of Milk Mineral Soak and then a few tablespoons of Charcoal Garden Detox Crush just because I can't get enough of that Spicy Basil and Rose scent.
The bath was drawn and now it was time to get myself ready for the darkness. I placed a towel and my trusty water bottle within arms reach and flicked off the lights and slowly creeped towards the tub.
From the moment I got into the water I knew this was a trend that needed to stay. As I floated in the dark abyss my mind began to wander first with to-do lists and ideas flooding forward, but as I gave my body time to adjust I could feel my mind slow. I do have to say that not having a sense of time was something that I found hard to move past - and listening to your body really giving yourself permission to soak as long as you need is key. You really have to trust your senses and listen to what you're feeling when you're in complete darkness!
As I began to feel like I was coming to the end of my soak just as the water was going from warm and comforting to tepid, I took a moment to focus on if I actually felt any different from the start.
Here's what I noticed:
I (very carefully) got out of the tub, popped on my robe and decided to lay quietly in bed for a few minutes to extend this blissful state as long as I could!
Final report: This is something I am going to absolutely keep in my self-care toolkit - both for those stressful days but also was a special treatment to get energized and fresh for the week!

]]>We want to make that process as easy as we possibly can by creating a super simple 5 step process to setting the mood, and creating the perfect romantic ambiance.
There’s nothing worse than sitting in the tub and feeling claustrophobic because the space you’re in is so crowded with all your other bath/shower stuff. The first step we recommend is removing all the shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles lying around your tub. Give your tub a quick rinse, hide all the partially filled bottles and stick them somewhere you won’t see while you soak.
Pour the bath and throw in your favourite bomb, soak, elixir, or all three! You’ll want to draw it a few degrees hotter than your typical bath so it can come to temp as you prep everything else. Fill the tub up as full as you like it, keeping in mind that you want enough water to allow the product to emulsify into the bath.
What’s a bath without a couple of indulgent sides? Grab the chocolate, chocolate covered strawberries, charcuterie board, the sparkling wine or any drink you’d like along with anything else you’d like to enjoy during your bath. Grab a few rose petals and throw those in for a romantic addition to your bath, grab the candles, light those and dim the lights!
What better than to add some music to your romantic bath. We’ve made a collection of playlists on our Spotify account to make it even easier for you to set the mood you want. From the Lockdown Lovers playlist to the Karaoke Dance Party Bath playlist there is definitely music for everyone!
Okay, so maybe don’t JUMP, but climb in and enjoy the atmosphere you’ve just created for yourself, reflect on your day, take that moment for you and enjoy your soak!
Hopefully we’ve made setting up your romantic bath 10x easier, we want to see your beautiful bath set-ups! Use #bathbeautifully and tag us @livebathorium on Instagram to show us your romantic set-ups!

One of the most romantic wines we love is Santa Carolina! Just look at this epic love story:
When Viña Santa Carolina was founded in 1875, the winemaker named it after his greatest inspiration, his wife, Carolina. Santa Carolina Reserva wines have been re-designed and pay homage to Carolina. Admired in her time, Carolina brought together family, friends, and personalities. As a nation of poets, Chile knows first hand the value of romance and inspiration and this collection is a cultural expression of Carolina’s lineage as its muse - a “living inspiration.”
Chardonnays from Chile are more fruity and zesty than the creamy, silky style of their California counterparts. This is because the grapes are picked earlier in the year, showcasing the fresh green flavours of the world's most popular white wine varietal: Chardonnay. Find it at the LCBO for $13.
We recommend pairing Chardonnay with your next Milk Mineral Soak, Ancient Oat Hydration, Pomelo Grove or BePure Bubble soak ✨
Chile is known for Carménère which is considered the country’s signature grape. The grape is very similar to Merlot, but don’t expect the same taste as Carménère has a distinctive flavour known for its bite and its peppery, herbaceous appeal. Because of this it pairs perfectly Mexican, Thai cuisine and all your favourite spicy dishes. Find it at the LCBO for $14.
We recommend pairing Carménère with your next Northern Sage Recovery, Boreal Fog or BeRejuvenated Bubble soak ✨
And to help you get to on the path to worshiping yourself we're giving you once simple tip to try each day.
Swiftie or not, we don't know about you but social media can be exhausting. As it's taking over our lives, it’s important to remember that when you’re thinking about taking time to love yourself, people who are hiding behind their screens, who may be spreading hate or leaving mean comments on your page should not play a role in how you define yourself.
You spend all day writing, but when was the last time you took a minute to write for ourselves. Try writing everything that’s on your mind onto a piece of paper as a stream of consciousness. It doesn’t have to be full sentences, it doesn’t even have to make sense. Set a timer, and write. Getting your thoughts down on paper can be so helpful to clear your thoughts.
Do you know where to turn to when you need to recharge? For some it's curled up on the couch with a good book and for some it's taking some time in nature. Today is your day to figure it out - you deserve it!
Now, we might be slightly biased here but after your relaxing soak you'll thank us. Baths are a great way to unwind at the end of the day, week, month, whatever it might be. They’re also a great way to destress and calm your mind to get ready for bed!
Who doesn’t want to unplug from the world for a moment? Clear your head and get some fresh air - it can be so beneficial and so helpful to step away from all of the world’s distractions and take a moment for you.
Sometimes self-love can come from the smallest gestures. Treating yourself your favourite tea or coffee is the perfect way to start off your day on the best foot on these cold winter days and start your work day or as an afternoon pick-me-up.
Remember all that work you did on discovering your happy place on day 3? We're putting it into practice today! Pull out all the stops today - a quiet solo lunch, endless hours of window shopping, a long hike - take yourself out to a perfect date filled with activities that bring you joy!
This pandemic hasn’t not been easy. Pandemic aside now more than ever it's so important to grant yourself the grace and forgiveness you deserve.
One small purchase can brighten your whole week! Treat yourself to some beautiful flowers today and refresh your space.
Dancing like no one’s watching is something that everyone should do at least once a day. Even if you don’t actually enjoy dancing, moving around and listening to your favourite song is the perfect opportunity for you to let out all your emotions! You can even use our Bath Karaoke Spotify playlist if you need some song inspo for your dance party!
When was the last time you took a minute in your day to simply ask yourself “how am I doing today? Is there anything I can do to bring more happiness today?” The answer doesn’t have to be written down but taking a little extra time to focus on ourselves is so important especially after a long week of work where you're putting others first.
Does someone keep popping into your head or is there someone you've been meaning to reach out to? Today is that day! Make the connection even stronger by giving them a call to chat on the phone (how old school!).
Are you someone that is always eating in a rush on their way out the door - or worse skipping breakfast entirely because you're too busy? Not today! Schedule in that time to start your day right - make that bacon and scrambled eggs or that yogurt parfait with all the toppings that you’ve been dying for all week! You deserve it!
You go through your day loving things - your partner, your kids, your family, that really amazing cup of coffee. But when was the last time you proudly declared your love for yourself? As silly as it may feel, looking in the mirror and saying "I love you" really does reinforce to your commitment to worshiping yourself.
Incorporating these tips into your month? We want to see your journey to self-worship! Use #selfworship and tag @livebathorium on Instagram and @bathorium on TikTok!

The first time I came out as bisexual was in my senior year of high school. I say first, because you never really stop coming out. You do it everyday, and in some way to everyone you meet.
I’ve been in a heterosexual relationship for my entire adult life, and while I am absolutely head over heels in love with my life and my fiancé, I often find myself experiencing imposter syndrome within the LGBTQ2+ community.
I am constantly coming out to people in my life as bi, reminding them and myself that despite marrying a man I am no less bisexual. Invalidation of bisexual individuals within the community is far too common.
My hope for pride month is to show people that bisexuality is not a phase, and you are valid no matter who you love.
I grew up in a family that promoted education and ambition almost entirely over anything else that I can remember. I was taught that to be successful and happy in life, it was necessary to attain a “big guy” job, worthy of a real man.
As a queer kid, I wasn’t always certain I could live up to that ideal. I always struggled in school academically and had ideas beyond going to college. It felt as though I was keeping not only one, but two secrets from my family.
Regardless of the love and affection my family and I shared, telling them I was gay was something I never imagined I’d have the courage to do. I was afraid of the shame and disappointment that might cause and I didn’t want to let anyone down. My secret began to weigh heavily on my shoulders until I realized it was impacting my personal happiness and preventing me from becoming the Mathieu that I knew I wanted to become.
I finally broke down and told my family my true identity, that I was gay – and I remember it felt so good! The feedback I received was surprisingly positive and makes me question why I was ever afraid of telling them.
Looking back now, I realize I am one of the lucky ones. While we all may share similar feelings of fear and uncertainty, I know not everyone’s “coming out” story is as easy as mine was or met with such love and support. Over the years, I’ve witnessed countless stories of judgement and abandonment that are both tragic and heartbreaking. That has been a driving factor for me to try and create a safe and welcoming place for the employees at Bathorium.
We strive to encourage individuality and living ones’ truth. I am so grateful for the opportunity that this small business has afforded me in supporting LGBTQ+ initiatives and especially treasure the chance to improve the “coming out” stories of LGBTQ+ youth.
Life is a journey that is not always easy, but I am confident that with the support of each other we can overcome hardships and grow together. I am proud to be an openly gay entrepreneur and I hope I may serve as an example that dreams really can come true. Bisous!
I want to create change and be a support leader in LGBT youth today.
Growing up as a questioning queer kid I didn’t have any gay mentors or role models that I could talk to or express how I was feeling.
Back in the formative high school years, there weren’t any accessible gay men in my life that I could look to for support or guidance. I always found myself not relating to the LGBT stereotypes I’d see portrayed on TV. I dreamed of having a loving husband, a family and being fearless in my everyday life. With the rise of teen suicide rates, especially in the LBGT community, I believe we need to open conversations up to kids who need to be heard.
Creating is a vehicle for self-expression and as a teenager, I used creating businesses to get the attention and accreditation I needed from those closest around me. While my brothers and straight friends excelled in sports and academia, I knew I could also get the validation I needed by being bolder, louder and consistently outdoing myself in every venture I set out to create.
For all the little dreamers that are coming after me, I want to be there to help amplify their success and be the person for them that no one was for me.

Do you ever see those beautifully written and curated posts about self-care that are meant to encourage you to set aside other's needs and tend to your own? Sometimes these posts do their job and I make a plan to "do something" to recharge. But I recharge by doing things for others and feeling satisfied in having met their needs as only I can.
The way we are conditioned to think about self-care affects what we do and how we feel about it. For me, it's not a choice between sacrificing enough to validate myself as a 'good enough' mom, or believing that self-care is integral to my wellbeing. It is a matter of knowing I deserve it—in my way—and that should be okay.
Our culture values and glorifies self-sacrifice. "We promote the employee who works 80-plus hours a week; we idolize the mom who never seems to need a break," according to clinical psychologist, Dr. Jessica Michaelson. "This belief that self-sacrifice is best creates a great deal of shame when we feel like we need something different."
And too often there are barriers that prevent us from practicing self-care. In a recent study published in Midwifery, researchers examined mothers' perceptions regarding the role of self-care, their ways of self-care, and the barriers to doing it. The findings? Whether the mothers thought self-care was essential or not, barriers like time and other limited resources—money, social support, and difficulty accepting help and setting boundaries—prevented them from actually practicing it.
But worrying that needing self-care makes you selfish or weak should not be the barrier that prevents you from obtaining it.
"Self-care absolutely is not the same as selfishness. Selfishness is lacking any consideration about others and profiting by this. Self-care is about making sure that we are well and healthy so that we are more available to help others," explained author, therapist and Silicon Valley health coach, Drew Coster.
Self-care can mean many different things, but knowing what self-care is *not* might be even more important. Self-care is not something you force yourself to do or something you don't enjoy doing, either. Clinical psychologist, Agnes Wainman, explains that caring for yourself is doing "something that refuels us, rather than takes from us." That means whatever works for you, works for you. Even if that means letting others do something for you.
So if a spa day or binging on Netflix aren't your thing, that's okay, because self-care actually might not be what you add, but what you take away. You can give yourself permission *not* to do something, or eliminate tasks that are draining.
One tiny bit of self-care can make all the difference.
"In a perfect world, most of us would love to get an hour-long massage every day, and enjoy a relaxing gourmet meal each day. Is that possible for most of us? No," says Jacqueline Getchius, MA, LPCC, licensed professional clinical counselor and owner of Wellspring Women's Counseling based in Minnesota. "Instead, we need to take a good look at what actually is possible. Start small."
Some examples of small acts of self-care that can refuel you just as much as that hour-long massage:
Bottom line: Self-care is as unique as you! However you identify it, the key is that it refuels you in *your* way, however that looks….
IT’S SCIENCE!
]]>In 2008, Indie Lee was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor that doctors felt could be environmentally derived and attributed to something as simple as what she was putting on her skin. This was her awakening.
After surviving a successful surgery, she embarked upon a new journey, Indie Lee skincare - a clean beauty line dedicated to educating and empowering others to live their healthiest life.
We sat down with the queen of clean beauty herself, Indie Lee, to learn more about her journey, her bath time rituals, and the best place for clean beauty beginners to start.
To start us off, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and what brought you to the point of founding Indie Lee?
Hi! I’m Indie Lee, mother of three amazing children, two furbabies, and the Founder & CEO of Indie Lee skincare. In 2008, after losing vision in my left eye, I was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor and given as little as six months to live. I didn't understand - I had been living a healthy life. In fact, at the time I was growing edible flowers in the greenhouse in my backyard and selling them to Whole Foods. I was eating healthy and exercising, plus there was no medical history like this in my family. When I asked how this was possible, my doctor asked me a life-changing question - "What do you put on your skin?” This was my awakening. The truth was I had no idea what I was putting on my skin. I started researching and the more I learned, the more I knew that I had to create change in the industry. After successfully surviving the surgery, I started creating clean products dedicated to educating and empowering others to live the healthiest version of their life. I haven't stopped since.
What is one life lesson you learned in the corporate world that you carried into your Clean Beauty career?
There are so many, I’m so lucky to have had amazing experiences at HBO and E&Y. I’m forever grateful for my accounting background, but it’s the ability to take feedback, learn from it, and grow that I carry with me wherever I go.
What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?
To always believe in myself and to always ask for help. Knowing what you don’t know and asking for help from those who do know can be a superpower.
We know a little bit about Indie Lee the person, but what about Indie Lee the company?
What makes this brand an industry-leader in Clean Beauty? For me, it’s our mission. This company is so much more than putting products on a shelf. I’m really working to create change by educating and empowering others. Knowledge is power, I learned that through my diagnosis and I want to provide others with the same power.
What are three words you’d use to describe the Indie Lee brand?
It’s not three words but three phrases - Grounded in nature, supported through science, and inspired by life. These commitments really guide our approach to formulation and the overall brand.
How would you describe your bathing ritual? (are you Netflix and red wine or complete quietness and burning white sage, etc.)
I would say I am a little bit of both. Meditation is huge for me. I meditate twice daily for twenty minutes. It’s always grounded me and I feel the effects if I don’t stick with it. But I also love binging a good show with a nice drink in hand.
We know you’ve loved Bathorium! What is your favourite product you have used?
I love the Milk Coconut & Bourbon Vanilla Soak - so yummy. I’m a huge bath girl and this one is such a lovely indulgence.
For beginners starting to detox their beauty routine and move to clean products - what’s the best place to start and do you have any tips?
I always suggest starting slowly and going clean one product at a time so the transition isn’t overwhelming. That way, you can make sure each product is working for you. If you try to transition all of your products to clean alternatives all at once, not only will you be overwhelmed, you won’t know what products work well with your skin versus maybe give you a negative reaction. An easy practice is to replace an existing product with a clean alternative as you are running out of it. If you’re low on your cleanser, start researching what clean alternatives are out there and interest you most.
For people with sensitive skin, it may be best to request a sample from a local retailer to patch test before buying the full size. Then repeat this process when the next product in your routine is running low. Before you know it, you will have a new clean skincare routine.
Just in time for Mother's Day, it's your chance to gift your favourite Bathorium products, plus Indie Lee's beloved De-Stress Body wash (or pick one up for yourself of course 😉 ).

Spring has sprung, and it’s everyone’s favourite time to do some housekeeping. The best place to start your Spring Fling – the bathroom. So, when is it really time to ditch makeup and bath products? Admittedly, I have a hard time parting with anything, so the expiration date in my mind is somewhere between a year – and eternity. Here’s a go-to guide on what to keep, what to toss, and when to toss it.
Let’s start with the bare necessities – when it comes to skincare products, let your five senses be your guide. If your face wash doesn’t look or smell like it did when you bought it, toss that baby. Same goes for creams – try to use those up within a year. Open jars can breed bacteria and you don’t want that going on your face. If you’re anything like me, you switch shampoos before you finish the bottle, but make sure you toss the half-used one after about 18 months. If unopened, shampoo lasts a few years.
When it comes to bath soaks and bubbles, check the packaging date and consistency for any changes – but let’s be real – those don’t last when you’re a bath lover! If you use a body scrubber, poof or loofah, make sure to replace those at the first sign of discolouration. The experts say 2 months, but we’d all be taking out loofah loans to keep up with our obsession.
On to makeup – and most importantly, mascara. Did you know you’re supposed to replace it every three months? Here’s a trick – buy the travel size! It’s less expensive, it doesn’t dry out and you’re more likely to use it up before it goes bad. Same goes for eyeliner – three months and toss. Foundation – six months – especially if it has sunscreen in it. Sunscreen loses efficacy over time. Eyeshadow is more forgiving. Powder makeup lasts a little longer since it contains the least amount of water – you can hang onto it for a few years – but only if you’re cleaning your makeup brushes regularly.
Which brings us to makeup brushes. Those need regular attention – like weekly or twice a month (excuse me while I run to clean mine) – especially eye makeup brushes. The easiest way to clean a makeup brush is in the palm of your hand. Wet the bristles, put a drop of cleanser in your hand and gently rub the bristles in your palm until the rinse water is clear. Squeeze the excess in a clean towel, reshape the brush and here’s the important part – hang the bristles OFF the counter to dry. If you lay them flat on a towel, you’re just putting mildew right back into the brush. When the bristles start to fray, it’s time to toss the brush.
And speaking of towels, did you know you’re supposed to wash them every few days? I guess it’s time to stop turning my hand towels around and inside out…
Hairbrushes, toothbrushes and razor blades all have a shelf life too. My uncle is a dentist and he and the American Dental Association say the general rule about toothbrushes is every three months, or as soon as the bristles are frayed. And you should always get a freshie if you’ve been sick. Razor blades can hold some bacteria, but you can wait until it looks dull or chipped or when you’re not getting that smooth close shave anymore. Which brings us to the illustrious hairbrush. If you use a lot of hair product, you’ll need to clean your brush more often – at least once a week. If the bristles are broken or bent, it’s time to invest in a new one. Experts say you should toss them every six months, but admittedly my favourite paddle brush has been in my drawer for a few years – I do clean it a lot though!
Got any travel sized soaps and shampoos? I’ll bet you have a whole drawer. Donate them to your local homeless shelter. If you haven’t used them by now, you’re never going to.
Medications and first aid kits are probably the most important spring cleaning in your bathroom. Medicine changes composition after their expiration date, and your band-aids from 1995 aren’t going to stick as well (and likely won’t be as sterile). If you find yourself questioning anything in your cabinets, a good rule of thumb is to toss it. It will save your storage - and maybe your health.
Now that your bathroom is refreshed, grab your up-to-date bath products and a freshly washed towel and hit the showers!

]]>Bathorium has curated a wide range of clays, each with their own beneficial properties. Let's dive into each one that can be found in our products and learn why they will have you saying 'Clay It On Me!".
Kaolin is a naturally occurring clay mineral. It is also sometimes known as China clay and tends to be white in colour, though this can vary. The name “Kaolin” originates from “Kaoling”, a hill in China from where this clay was first obtained or mined.
Ground into a fine powder, it is very absorbent but it is gentler than some other varieties of clay, which makes it ideal for reducing oiliness and shine in all skin types. When applied to the skin it absorbs excess moisture, and has been used for hundreds of years as a skincare ingredient - primarily in Asia. Kaolin clay cleans traces of dirt, pollution, grime, and bacteria effectively from your skin. It removes traces of dead skin cells without causing any redness or irritation.
Found in ALL our core products
Australian Pink Clay is a combination of red and white clays- so it contains both their benefits. It is considered to be the mildest of all the clays and works well for normal, sensitive and mature skin types. Red clay contains copper which production of collagen and elastin in cells.
Another reason pink clay is great for drier skin types is to do with the that the fact the clay doesn’t remove skin’s natural oils which keeps it balanced and comfortable.
Found in Pomelo Grove Bomb
This Ultrafine Canadian Glacial Marine Clay is a product of erosion caused by the movement and melting of glaciers. It eventually deposits as a sediment in the ocean and becomes enriched with beneficial phytoplankton, and is one of the most pure clays on the market in terms of the concentration of minerals and elements.
Another beneficial element to this clay is the micro size of its particles and its amazing absorptive ability. The osmotic power of the clay pulls moisture up from deep inner tissues to hydrate the surface of the skin and also cleans the skin without dehydrating it, as other cleansing agents may do.
Found in Northern Sage Recovery CRUSH
Rhassoul Clay is a high-quality soothing clay sourced from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. It is also called Ghassoul Clay, Red Clay, and Red Moroccan Clay, and it can only be found under this specific mountain range in Morocco. It is formed by a natural combination of volcanic activity and geothermal changes.
Moroccan clay with its silk-like feel can help even out skin tone and reduce blemishes. It has the unique ability to both nourish skin and reduce breakouts. In fact, clinical studies and testing on Rhassoul found that it can increase skin elasticity.
Found in Eucalyptus Apothecary CRUSH
This clay is sometimes called sea clay and is by far one of the most majestic, most effective, and most commonly used mineral skin clays found in the world. It contains a cornucopia of valuable elements. Green clay owes its coloration to two very important factors: iron oxide and decomposed plant matter.
This mineral-rich clay can help draw out impurities, tone, and exfoliate dead skin cells and reducing inflammation in acne. It can also be used as a full-body treatment to soften dry, rough skin.

The key to healthy eating is to make it easy and enjoyable. It’s a mistake to think of healthy food as something dreary, with all the fun sucked out. Plenty of foods that taste great also happen to be great for you. You don’t have to give up all the guilty treats you enjoy, either: just eat less of them, and less frequently. If you enjoy cooking, try your hand at preparing different cuisines that are heavy on the veg, low on carbs, and bad fats. Many Mediterranean and Asian cuisines offer an array of wholesome vegetable-rich alternatives to sample. If cooking isn’t your thing, or you just don’t have the time, look for natural food stores in your neighbourhood or online that offer minimally processed and nutritious prepared meals.
It’s similar to exercise. If you regard it as a chore, you’ll be likely to dread it, put it off, and cut your sessions short. So, try different fitness programs until you find one that doesn’t feel like work. It’s better to do a less-intensive workout regularly, than a demanding one only once in a while—though adding a few high-intensity intervals from time to time, and really getting your heart rate up, can accelerate weight loss and possibly even improve longevity. Once exercise is part of your routine, you may find yourself even wanting to take it up a notch or two.
To implement new, healthier choices, you will need to carve out some time for food prep and workouts in your probably already-hectic schedule. You may be thinking “nice idea, but it’s not going to happen.” While yes, it can be hard to focus on adding healthy practices when you are juggling the many demands of work and life, finding ways to manage your time better can make the impossible look possible. Better time management will also likely lead to greater productivity at work, more time for recreation, and reduced stress.
A tidy and organized living space makes it easier for you to get tasks completed quickly, and for everyone to get along. A messy, cluttered room, on the other hand, can raise anxiety levels, provoke negative emotions, and simply make it harder to get things done. If you can’t find items you’re looking for or don’t even have counter space to set things, this slows you down and makes it harder to find the energy for self-care or self-improvement. Tidying up, and letting in light and fresh air, will help you stay motivated. Look for simple and affordable ways to refresh your décor, such as throw pillows or new window dressings. Making your living space attractive and orderly can also help alleviate familial tensions that lead to arguments.
One bonus of self-care is that when you are feeling better about yourself you are less likely to return to unhealthy tendencies as a coping mechanism. You can find all kinds of products at Bathorium that will help make your daily routine a little more luxurious. Treat yourself with 100% green and clean ingredients with a bath bomb, for a soothing soak, or a delicious herbal tea to help you relax.
Remember that you are making these changes to have a better and more enjoyable life. So the point is not to choose unpleasant fad diets or grueling workouts. The point is to make good choices that you can enjoy, and which will pay off exponentially over time.

Charcoal is natural clarifying, that draws out dirt, oil, and impurities like a magnet. Over the last few years, charcoal beauty products have taken the industry by storm and the trend is showing no signs of slowing down. Specifically, the ingredient found in many skincare, hair and body products is actually called activated charcoal, which is an entirely different and more porous form than regular ol’ charcoal from your grill. This porousness is what makes it so great at absorbing toxins.
Long before the days of cold pressed juices with activated charcoal seen at your local juice bar, the benefits were used in the medical field. In the ER when drug overdoses or poisonings. When the charcoal is ingested it binds to the toxins preventing them from being absorbed by the body. Activated charcoal is known to absorb 100 to 200 times its weight in impurities.
What is "activated" charcoal anyway? When charcoal is heated to a very high temperature the structure changes. Heating gives the fine carbon powder a larger surface area, which makes it more porous. This lets the charcoal collect toxins, chemicals, and other unwanted materials, like smells.
Now is the time to take your routine to the next level with these products made with activated charcoal.
This anti-bacterial soap from kaia naturals uses the power of Apple Cider Vinegar and Activated Charcoal to leave a protective barrier in the underarm area, ensuring any natural deodorant works. It allows for more hours of odor free assurance on the hottest of days.

]]>Nothing screams the need for self-care more then a global pandemic and now more then ever, its time to put yourself first and and find ways to show yourself some love. You deserve it! When I think of self-care, I immediately think of a luxurious bathtub piled high with foamy bubbles. I think of soft candles and a warm cup of tea. I imagine relaxing music or guided meditation or maybe even a novel. What a great way to relax and recharge your body, mind and soul.
Self-care is crucial especially during times of stress or uncertainty and setting time aside to honour yourself and give yourself the care you deserve is vital to your wellbeing. Along with those blissful, relaxing moments in the bathtub and other physical forms of self-care, there are some excellent less obvious ways we can provide ourselves with some self care and show ourselves some gratitude. Afterall, 2020 has thrown a lot at us, we deserve a break.
It may seem obvious but many Canadians and disproportionately women, do not get enough sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to irritability, impaired memory, reduced physical strength and can even diminish the ability for your body to fight off infections. The basis of self-care is making sure your body is getting exactly what it needs to function and that includes a healthy sleep routine. Try setting a bedtime to avoid staying up too late, stop using electronics an hour before bedtime, do a relaxing activity before bed ( hello Bathorium Snooze Bomb!! ) and make your bedroom a comfortable, sleep inducing environment.
It is so easy to spend far too long scrolling social media, online shopping or keeping up with the ever changing news but unplugging yourself from your phone is beneficial for you heath. Constant screen time can lead to headaches and eye strain and taking a break from your phone for a a few hours may be beneficial for your mental health as well. Set aside even one hour a day to do an unplugged activity. You can trying playing a board game, doing a puzzle, cooking some yummy desserts or writing in a journal.
I get it, life gets busy and sometimes the last person you think about is yourself but it’s so important to set aside time for self-care, even if its just 20 minutes. There are many times a day we can find small ways to include self-care in our daily routines. Listen to guided meditation, eat a nutritious meal, start a gratitude journal and write down 5 things each evening that you are grateful for, go for a walk in nature for some fresh air and exercise, do something creative like painting, drawing or pottery and of course, end your day with that heavenly bubble bath to relax your muscles and allow yourself the rest your body deserves. It's time to give yourself some care and bring back the bath.
